Come to the SCOCSA Winter Show 2026

This is the one you've been waiting for. The SCOCSA Winter Show is one of the big shows of the year — two full days of spectacular orchid displays, friendly competition, and the chance to see some of the finest plants grown on the Fleurieu Peninsula and across South Australia.

Whether you're a passionate grower, a curious beginner, or simply someone who appreciates beautiful flowers, the Winter Show is a wonderful day out. Come along, browse the displays, chat with growers, and maybe take home a plant or two.

The heart of the show is the competition judged across multiple divisions. You'll see Cymbidiums in every colour imaginable, Australian native Dendrobiums, Cattleya alliance plants, and a miscellaneous section that always throws up surprises.

Judging takes place on before the show opens to the public. Ribbons and trophies are awarded across all divisions, including special awards for Best in Show and Plant of the Show.

One of the most popular features of the show is the sales area. Members bring quality divisions, back-bulbs, and seedlings — plants that have proven themselves in South Australian conditions. This is a fantastic opportunity to add something special to your collection at very reasonable prices.

Our members are passionate about orchids and love to share their knowledge. If you've ever had a question about growing — why your Cymbidium won't spike, what potting mix to use, how to manage pests — this is the place to ask. You'll get honest, practical advice from people who grow in the same climate as you.

If you're a SCOCSA member thinking about entering, now is the time to start preparing. Here's a quick checklist:

Timing your blooms Most Cymbidium spikes take 6–8 weeks from first visible spike to fully open flowers. Check your plants now and estimate where they'll be on 25 July. If a plant looks like it'll be a week or two early, move it to a slightly cooler, shadier spot to slow it down.

Presentation

• Clean, healthy foliage — remove dead or yellowing leaves
• Staked spikes with bamboo stakes and soft ties, presented upright and evenly spaced
• Clean pots — a wipe with a damp cloth makes a real difference
• Correct labels — every exhibit must be labelled with the plant's name

First-time exhibitors are warmly welcomed. Don't be intimidated — bring your best plant and enjoy the experience.

Marion Warradale Uniting Church Hall is located on Township Rd, Marion SA — easily accessible from the Southern Expressway and well serviced by public transport. Parking is available on site.
